    • Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, has a brand new hospital, which opened in October 2016, run in partnership with the NHS North Bristol NHS Trust. It provides an inpatient Level 1 intensive brain injury rehabilitation service 29 NHS England funded beds for the South West of England. The old unit is currently being refurbished to extend the service and provide a further 23 slower-stream neuro-rehabilitation beds Level 2. Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation ST1/2 level This post is a six month appointment with the possibility of a six month extension To commence in August / September 2017 Applications are invited for a second, highly motivated Clinical Fellow in Brain Injury Rehabilitation based at the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, situated in the grounds of FrenchayHospital on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan city of Bristol. This is a full time six month locum appointment for 40 hours per week, 9am-5pm Monday – Friday, with the need for occasional flexibility and there is no requirement for an on-call commitment. However if the postholder would like to be eligible for the 40 pay banding there is the opportunity to work 9am – 9pm two days a week, which attracts the higher pay banding. The Centre consists of two services; a highly reputable, busy 29 bed Level 1 unit offering brain injury rehabilitation for adolescent and adult patients, including patients with challenging behaviour. The Level 1 service is in a new, clinically designed hospital which opened in August 2016. The old unit is now being refurbished to provide a 23 bed Level 2 service with 9 new beds already available and a further 14 beds coming on stream in the Spring. There will be a total of 52 neuro-rehabilitation beds at BIRU by May 2017. The Clinical Fellows are encouraged to play an active role in all aspects of the assessment and management of patients. The particular role of the Clinical Fellow is to provide continuity of medical care, day to day management of the in-patient service, report preparation and close liaison with the Centre’s friendly inter-disciplinary team. The Centre currently has four Consultants; Dr J Holloway, Medical Director, Dr A Graham, Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation, Dr Johanna Herrod, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist and Dr Annabel Crossman, a newly appointed Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation. The post holder will have close working relationships with the acute neurosciences services and full access to postgraduate activities.
