From our offices in either Bristol, Devizes or Portsmouth you will be working as part of the database administration team working on the current SQL Server environment learning and assisting in managing and maintaining the environment. The role will include training and provide the opportunity to work with the internal and external customers within the business on an adhoc basis. Key Duties but not limited to • The management and operations of databases.• Working and engaging constructively with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements • Nurture key relationships with internal and external stakeholders• Support – ensuring the production databases SQL operate efficiently and dealing with all requests/incidents in a timely fashion• Automation – develop bespoke solutions to maximise efficiency and resources Skills Required • Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server 2008 up to SQL Server 2016• Strong in Performance Tuning, and Query Optimization• Strong in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.• Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.• Good knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.• Strong experience in implementing operational automation.• Good knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.• SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code • Understanding of windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components.• Comprehensive documentation skills
