Job Description Spire Parkway HDU/Recovery Nurse Equivalent to Band 6 Depending on Experience Let your skills shine as you understand the needs of your patients. When you join the team at Spire Healthcare, you can expect the unexpected. Because working for an independent healthcare provider means that you’ll work in the most modern surroundings with cutting-edge technology and resources. Supported by a team of skilled and friendly professionals, you will also benefit from a working environment that is peaceful and harmonious – and now you can join our ranks. Based at Spire Parkway, this satisfying role will see you working in the HDU recovery unit. This is where you will find patients recovering from investigative procedures such as colonoscopies, as well as pre-planned surgery including bariatric, plastic and bowel surgery. You will also be caring for general surgery patients who need more attention than the general recovery wards can provide. A flexible team player with a genuine passion for seeing your patients onto the road to recovery, you will also work on the general recovery ward when they need the extra support. This is a great environment in which to hone your skills. With just two patients per nurse, and one-on-one care for anyone on a ventilator, you can really commit yourself to understanding your patient’s needs. As you will often be explaining procedures to perioperative patients, you will need fantastic communication skills to excel in this dynamic ward. Boasting good experience gained in an Intensive Care environment or High Dependency Unit, you will gather information about the patients’ health requirements in order to formulate appropriate care plans. As such, you will be literate and will be confident handling sensitive data, and you will be unflappable in the event of an emergency. As a registered Nurse, you will ideally be working towards qualifications in perioperative practice or a clinical specialism, and you will be keen to continue enhancing your professional development with the training options on offer. It would be particularly useful if you have Advanced Life Support training, but we can provide this as part of our exciting development courses. This is a role with real scope for development and career progression, so if you’re ready to work in a team where you can spend time properly caring for your patients, then we know you’ll be happy with this fantastic department.
