We have a fabulous opportunity for a Lab Analyst (Chemist) to join our dedicated team here at our Alfreton Plant. Reporting to our Laboratory Manager we’re looking for someone with a passion for chemistry, a fascination with the newest and most exciting technologies – and let’s not forget a penchant for chocolate. The quality of our products is paramount and you’ll be joining at a time of significant investment, with the opportunity to play an important part in the introduction of innovative new technology in our laboratory. Just some of the things you’ll be responsible for are: Carrying out stringent analytical tests of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods and bought-in products Carrying out internal audits as required Ensuring all required testing and sampling is completed to schedule Liaising with external suppliers, providing accurate reports in accordance with procedure Maintenance of good housekeeping in laboratory environment Work to appropriate lab systems, standards and procedures e.g. data recording, labelling, investigation and calibration procedures Supplying consumables to the factory, collecting lab deliveries and dealing with waste streams Providing support to industrial with investigations Contributing to ongoing Continuous Improvement plans in your area This is a hugely varied role in a seasonal business famous for its innovation and range – we intend to continue expanding and developing and for that we need someone with their eye on the ball when it comes to new equipment, and superior technical knowledge. This role requires an element of independent working so you’ll have great time management skills and be comfortable working off your own initiative. Great communication, attention to detail and computer skills are a must. You’ll be graduate level or equivalent in a science related degree (preferable food science or chemistry), and whilst a background in food manufacturing and quality would be advantageous, if you feel you’ve got the passion and potential to make a difference then we want to hear from you!
