LOCATION: Coventry, West Midlands WHAT TO EXPECT Using state-of-the-art facilities, you'll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry. Based at the University of Warwick and forming part of the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC), the Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory (APRL) will create the next generation propulsion technologies that are central to the future competitiveness of the automotive industry. The scope of research will focus on internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric systems, lightweight vehicle technology and advanced automotive control systems. Join us member of the APRL Operations, Planning and Engagement Team and you'll help ensure industry leading propulsion technology is delivered to a world class standard. As Shift Leader you will be responsible for a small team tasked with preparation and operation of the test facility to adapt hybrid and electric vehicle propulsion systems. Your team will fulfil a suite of tests as defined by the customers to the highest standards, including Powertrains in component form and full vehicle testing. You'll be responsible for leading the Test Technicians and logistics team to ensure timely, quality delivery to defined processes, and for optimising utilisation of the test beds. To keep our technology moving forward, the facility will run automated testing 24/7 to support operations. WHAT YOU'LL NEED With a passion for the automotive industry, you'll possess a Level 5 qualification in engineering, leadership, and management (or equivalent) and have direct knowledge of engine test processes and operations. In addition, you'll demonstrate technical leadership and workload management using your skills as a natural problem-solver to methodically approach problem solving. To ensure you are able to manage fault diagnosis and rectification you'll need to be able to validate, prepare, and read engineering documents. You'll have excellent communication skills and a detailed knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS.
