BBC News is one of the largest news organisations in the world. Along with this we have some of the largest systems to support, telling the worlds news stories on Radio, TV and Online. BBC News is currently undertaking a multi-year project to replace its current script system with OpenMedia, by Annova. Through a complex implementation and migration programme, the new system will be rolled out across approximately 150 sites and over 10,000 users. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team rolling out and supporting the script system used by BBC News. As Transition and Release Coordinator you will be responsible for the responsible for the completion of the ‘Ready for Support’ transition gate, as part of the formal steps to move the OpenMedia system from the project rollout to business as usual support. You will also be expected to contribute to other Transition gates, representing the Support team where required. Working with the Operations Manager, you will coordinate the release of new version of software and configuration changes to the OpenMedia system. You will be effective in completing tasks to deadlines and flexible to find solutions to delays and changes in timetables. You will be an effective communicator, able to build relationships and resolve conflicting demands of the Project, Support Team, the Supplier and Stakeholders at all levels of the BBC. As a Transition & Release Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for: Process management * Manages, maintains and creates process documentation, records and information held on relevant systems (Remedy, Jira and Confluence), produces and publishes agreed reports and event plans * Reviews documentation, assesses for accuracy and completeness and progresses in line with agreed procedure and ITIL (v3) standards * Contributes to the continuous refinement of processes in conjunction with other functional teams and project teams Stakeholder management * Engages business stakeholders (Operations, product and platform teams) ensuring processes and procedures are fit for purpose and aligned with other functional teams processes * Builds effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure Transition and Release processes are completed to deadlines. Third Party Suppliers * Builds effective relationships system vendors and ensuring 3rd party support is effective and cost efficient by ensuring a regular review process with suppliers Project Engagement * Acts as point of contact for all Transition and Release processes to project and development teams, procurement, support service design and change management To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate experience with Service Transition and/or release management of large IT systems and working closely with project teams to deliver systems that meet production teams expectations. You will be able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and maintain attention to detail at all times You will also possess excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to communicate in a clear and concise way. Experience of managing stakeholders to an acceptable resolution in a conflicting and demanding environment is also essential. You can demonstrate a proven ability to persuade and influence others using a variety of communication styles Experience in building a network of contacts and maintaining high visibility as point-of-contact is desirable You will possess excellent time management skills to deliver work to deadlines and experience of managing processes within a flexible, changing environment. Understanding of ITIL (v3) processes is desirable. Experience of working in a broadcast or media environment, with daily deadlines and production schedules, is desirable. This role is based in London but may require working on other BBC sites.
