Job Description The Ward Receptionist will provide a reception/administrative service to support the department/unit to deliver a high quality service to clients. Hours and Shifts: 22.5 hours/week. Working either 07.00-15.00 or 15.00-23.00, 3 days/week (will include weekdays and weekends) Salary: £18,310 - £22,421 pro rata (dependent on candidate experience) Duties & Responsibilities Meet and greet patients, visitors, consultants and staff and deal with their enquiries Give the patient/escort the relevant admission paperwork and explain the self-pay process Register patients on meditech informing nursing staff/ doctor of admission Answer telephone enquiries To make bookings for consultant appointments and clinical investigations as ordered by clinical staff Enter charges on to computer system, present bill and obtain payment from UCC patient/ escort. To deal with account enquiries with assistance of nurse in charge Monitor stationary stock levels and order as required to maintain pre- determined stock levels Undertake secretarial duties as required by unit To undertake such duties as required from time to time as consistent with the responsibilities of the role Skills and Experience Previous Receptionist experience, ideally within healthcare Knowledge of relevant hospital policies & procedures would be advantageous Good verbal communication skills with excellent customer care skills Knowledge of health & safety procedures Ability to resolve queries in a timely manner About the Individual The successful candidate will be a confident communicator; comfortable dealing with people of all levels and tactful, empathetic and professional in their tone and manner. They will be intrinsically customer focused, exhibiting a passion for going above and beyond expectations and a desire to provide an exceptional patient experience. They will be able to demonstrate that they are able to organise and prioritise an ever-changing workload, which is often busy and varied.
